Select Training CIC work with high schools, charities , local councils and voluntary organisations to train young people age 14 years+ in Level 2 Award in First Aid for Youth Mental Health.
Knowing the signs and symptoms of the most common mental health conditions, coupled with the skills to start a conversation about mental health , could make a significant difference in helping young people get the support they need.
Course content includes;
- Know what mental health is, why young people develop mental health conditions and the role of a first aider for mental health.
- Know how to recognise and manage stress.
- Know how to recognise a range of mental health conditions.
- Identify signs and/or symptoms for the following mental health conditions:
- • Depression
- • Anxiety
- • Psychosis
- • Eating disorders
- • Suicide
- • Self-harm
- • Post-traumatic stress disorder
- Understand the first aid action plan for mental health and be able to put it in place.
- Demonstrate the application of the first aid action plan for mental health.
