Mini medics mental health training for children

Mini Medics mental health training is 45 minute- 2 hour session. We deliver the course at a location of your choice, in a morning or afternoon session.

We are currently working with primary schools, charities, family wellbeing centres, and voluntary organisations to support young people with their mental health.

The session includes;

• Understanding mental health
• Emotions and feelings- we complete an age adapted CBT exercise
• Mental health problems, these include loneliness, stress, feeling unhappy, feeling worried. 
• Talking about mental health- including asking for help, how to talk about mental health and listening to other people's worries.
• Looking after our mental health- includes practical exercises in mindfulness breathing.

The session is an engaging and interactive way to provide children with an understanding of mental health, including what mental health means, how it is linked to physical health, what to do if you have a worry and various ways in which they can look after their mental health.

Each participant receives the Mini Medics Mental Health Book. This allows them, parents/carers or any support workers to continue supporting the young person with their mental health. Individuals supporting the young person in school are also welcome to attend the training with the young person, this will allow them to continue to support the young person, using the techniques taught on the training.   

Mini Medics First Aid training is 45 minute- 2 hour session. We deliver the course at a location of your choice, in a morning or afternoon session.

Mini Medics First Aid is a basic first aid course designed for children between the ages of 7 and 11, but it can suit children of any age.

Topics covered:

• What is First Aid?
• CPR- Every child will have the opportunity to practise the techniques on manikins.
• Defibrillation- Every child will be shown how to use an AED  
• Recovery position
• Choking
• Asthma
• Wounds and bleeding- Every child will have the opportunity to practise different wound dressing techniques.

This is a hand on practical course. In addition to the practical activities each child will receive a Mini Medics First Aid worksheet. The worksheets include a colouring in activity, word search and crossword puzzle for learners to test their first aid knowledge. 

The session is an engaging and interactive way to provide children with an understanding of basic first aid.
